Sex and Dubai

I have just fallen on this blog, as one falls on many thing in the interweb… the breadcrumbs can’t go cross site as that would cause an exploitable situation… so I can not explain how I got there. What I found was a blog that has been stale for about 4 months, blocked by the authorities… I’m not sure why, as one commentator on the blog pointed out, such a key-phrase will do wonders for the UAE tourism industry. Of course who wants a lot of old guys from England visiting?

Here is an extract from the marvellously entertaining content that was Sex and Dubai:

Despite the sex goddess status we have unwittingly been bestowed with, we must confess that food has always scored higher than sex in our books. In fact, if there’s any one thing we absolutely agree upon, it’s that food is far better than sex.

Here’s a few reasons why our palates are more receptive to chocolate instead of cajones:

• With food, pleasure is consistent while sex is always a hit or miss affair.
  
• With food, you don’t have to part of an orgy to enjoy multiple dishes simultaneously.
  
• With food, a bun in the oven means just that. With sex, that unwanted bun will take nine months to bake.

As you can see it is very entertaining, but it is no more… they have a petition running and it appears they are posting on
Pens of Passion as one (or are they two?) of the contributors there. However it has been a reasonable amount of time - what is the situation in the UAE in regards to provocative language? And is it likely this blog will be unblocked? Is there any other news about it, or is it such a common event in UAE that it isn’t mentioned by mainstream media?
