Keeping a following on a blog requires fresh, interesting content. You already know you need to put up new posts several times each week.
But what happens when you hit a wall and can’t think of anything fresh or interesting?
Here are some ways to find blog content your readers will love, even when you are drawing a creative blank:
Comment on a Current Event
Using sources like Google News and CNN.com, pick a current event and comment on it from your market’s unique perspective.
Republish an Old Post
Do you have an old post or two you wrote before you were popular? Chances are your current readers haven’t seen it. Re-post it with an update if necessary.
Comment on Someone Else’s Post
While we often write brief comments on other people’s blogs, try writing an extended comment on your own blog as a post about an entry on someone else’s blog. Make sure to give them a trackback—it will not only benefit them, it will get some of their readers over to your site.
Run a Cartoon or Video
Find a cartoon or video related to your market and blog it.
Publish a Guest Post
Have someone else in your market make a guest post to your blog.
Publish a Top 10 List
A top 10 list is always popular. Make up your own top 10 list or find one on the web that would be of interest to your market.
Post a Snope
Go over to Snopes and find an urban myth (or urban truth) in your target market. Write it up.
