99 Bloggers community blog

A lot of people are asking me how they get involved in 99 bloggers - really it is very easy, you can join any of the following ways:

• leave a comment on this blog - make sure you enter your email address in the email field - and I’ll invite you to join the wordpress community. I’ll automatically assign you contributor privileges and you’ll be able to contribute immediately.
• join now, then tell me you are on wordpress and provide your email address. I’ll add your email address as a contributor and send you an email telling you the site is ready to accept your contributions!
• add content though comments… it won’t bring you the same results as contributing your own posts. But every community requires feedback! And you’ll still receive traffic through commenting on the blog.
• Help out the community through:
  • stumbling on the page
  • digging the page: Digg 99 Bloggers
  • Add to your technorati favourites
  • Writing about 99 bloggers (for those that do I am adding your page to the featured blog section of 99 bloggers).
  • Include yourself in the community at MyBlogLog
  • Join the community at Blog Catalog
  • Request being added as a co-author at MyBlogLog
  • Add the blog to your profile at Blog Catalog

So, there you go… it is as easy as pie! But once you have joined, you’ll want to start posting as soon as you can, otherwise why join?!?

If you already occupy a wordpress blog and you have recently signed up to post on 99 Bloggers, then it is a little confusing, since both your blog and the 99 bloggers blog use the same interface… but your original blog is the default for your account. So it appears you can not post to 99 Bloggers. This is not true, once I have accepted you as a contributor, then you will be able to post.

Your default blog will be the dashboard you are taken to by wordpress. But you will see a little triangle beside your default blogs title in the top left corner. You can see in this image, the big red arrow points to where you will see a little arrow.

You can use this to select which blog on the wordpress site you want to blog to. It might be displayed as alphafoobar, but it is the 99 bloggers site.

Once you have selected a blog to post to, you can post… I have set up some categories that you might like to post to… and you should be able to enter any tags you like. If you’d like a different category, let me know.

And let me know if you have any other issues.

If you are interested in only reading the blogs of 99 bloggers, you can do so form the main screen, or you can select the category you are interested in only… these will include environment, politics, news, lifestyle, media, music, video, money, blogs, opinion, technology…. oh the list will go on. And I hope that we will provide you with all the information you will need.

Make sure you comment somewhere on the blog if you’d like to be part of 99 Bloggers, remember to include a valid email in the email field - nobody will see it, except for the site admin, but you’d better hurry up… there can only be 99 and places are going fast! And include your blog URL, or information about what you want to post about, this will help us decide whether you are what we are looking for!
